Ramón Gámez Guardiola is a practising architect, tenured professor of construction at UPM’s School of Architecture (ETSAM) and director of the MDI. A PhD in architecture from UPM, Ramón has combined teaching and research work with his work as an architect, for which he was received a range of accolades, notably including first prize for the houses designed for the Madrid authorities on calle Gravina and first prize and also the Luis Moreno-Mansilla award from Madrid’s School of Architects (COAM) for his extension of the Chancellery of the Spanish Embassy in Amman (Jordan). His work has included interventions at historical buildings, including the restoration of San Juan Bautista Cathedral and the Santísima Trinidad Church in Albacete and the refurbishment of the Chancellery and General Consulate of the Spanish Embassy in Habana.
