Juan was project manager on ADIF's Haramain high-speed rail project in Saudi Arabia (2012-2015) and previously worked as an architect and project manager at Renfe (Spain’s former state rail monopoly, currently a public operator) and ADIF (1991-2017). A member of the Watford Group, an international association of railway design professionals, Juan has given talks and classes at Madrid’s School of Architects (COAM), ADIF, the MDI and for conventions, such as the Watford Conference and the UIC Conference. He has written a number of articles about railroad architecture, the urban impact of rail travel and the rehabilitation of railway heritage.

Luis has built a remarkable career in real estate, having worked, for example, as managing director in Iberdrola’s real estate arm, at Metrovacesa, as head of real estate for Mapfre and as advisor to Macquarie. He is an honorary professor at UPM, where he has also done research, and lectures at IE. He has been invited to speak at conferences at other prestigious universities outside Spain, including Wharton Business School and Columbia. Lastly, Luis has collaborated with Spanish NGOs on housing projects in underprivileged areas in Bolivia and Peru.
